Many of us think of our ‘problems’ in a very limiting way – as things that are broken which need to be fixed. Yet considered more broadly, a problem is anything in our lives that could be better than it currently is. Every day we face varying problems; from simple issues such as an overflowing sink, to more difficult challenges like a strained relationship with a colleague. As the philosopher Karl Popper observed, ‘All life is problem solving.’
This session will leave you with the confidence to lean into your problems (rather than just put up with them) and equip you with clear practical tools to get started solving them straight away.
What we’ll cover:
- Turning challenges into opportunities: Shift your mindset to see problems as opportunities for growth and innovation.
- Breaking free from tunnel vision: Learn how to avoid reactive thinking and address problems with clarity.
- Applying a systematic approach to problem solving: Follow a proven four-step process to define, analyse, test, and refine solutions for any situation.
Why is it important for people to learn this skill?
The ability to both correctly solve problems and then surgically solve them is among of the most valuable skills any organisation can invest in. Rather than reacting to symptoms or relying on assumptions, good problem solving means learning how to identify root causes, think more clearly, and make better decisions. This leads to stronger collaboration, more innovation, and therefore better performance.
Who is this relevant for?
The workshop is best suited to managers seeking practical tools to improve decision-making, leaders responsible for solving complex business challenges, and teams aiming to build a culture of experimentation.
