The challenge: Meeting the learning needs of a global, mostly-deskless workforce
As a global leader in automotive manufacturing, this inrehearsal client has a workforce of over 10,000 people, with operations running 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Around 80% of those employees are based in factories or similar “deskless” environments, making traditional learning and personal development difficult for the majority of them.
Until 2022, most of the organisation’s L&D was run through a limited learning management system (LMS). In order to use this LMS and complete any training, employees needed prolonged access to a computer and a desk, which was often unavailable for most. In-person training was also inaccessible for employees who worked night shifts or irregular hours.
With such a wide range of learning needs across different working environments, roles, and schedules, the client’s L&D team began to realise they needed a more flexible way to reach employees with meaningful learning content.
Historically, the L&D team had been directing employees to relevant videos like Ted Talks on public platforms like YouTube, or sharing PowerPoint slide decks. But it became clear that support from a specialist partner who could provide learning content in more user-friendly formats, directly at the point-of-need, was required to solve these challenges.
As they began to recognise this room for improvement, they discovered inrehearsal in 2022. Since then, they haven’t looked back, as as training specialist from the organisation explained:
“When we discovered inrehearsal, it was so exciting, and it brought on a very important change for us. Our team all came together to look at what they offered, and we all agreed the inrehearsal content library was amazing.”
The solution: Tailoring learning to requirements with a supportive learning partner
The inrehearsal library offers engaging, bitesized video content that can be accessed on mobile devices, at the point of need, by employees across all kinds of working environments.
With 1,000s of learning resources that cover 100s of topics and skills, becoming an inrehearsal partner enabled this L&D team to gain videos in a similar style to the ones they were sourcing from YouTube. But with targeted, intentional learning content for their employees to use in more suitable ways.
The client’s rep. said, “With inrehearsal, all I have to do is type a keyword in the search bar, and all the content I need on that topic is there, and I can find it all really easily. I can look at how long the videos will be, what related videos there are, and I can tailor a selection of content to the specific training I’m planning.”
“Having the opportunity for people to access learning through their mobile devices, for example, is huge. They can use inrehearsal’s learning on any device at any time.”
inrehearsal is helping to drive important awareness throughout the organisation too, such as neurodiversity.
This has been highly beneficial, especially for legacy employees who’ve been with the company for decades and since a young age.
They’ve also taken advantage of inrehearsal’s ability to create bespoke L&D content specifically designed to supplement company-specific training.
They’ve also taken advantage of inrehearsal’s ability to create bespoke L&D content specifically designed to supplement company-specific training.
But this is only just the beginning in terms of advancing the L&D offering with the support of inrehearsal.
“We’re still discovering lots of new ways we can use inrehearsal’s content, and it’s helping us to continue growing and developing as an organisation here. It’s opened lots of doors for us.”
The outcome: An inspired workforce and L&D through a strong learning partner
The key goal for the L&D team is to increase employee engagement and inspire more employees to embrace learning.
Partnering with inrehearsal has been a big help with this, both in terms of the more flexible, accessible nature of the content, as well as the bespoke content.
By offering bespoke content featuring their own employees, the workforce has become more invested in the L&D offering after seeing their colleagues involved.
The client’s rep said, “The bespoke content has been great. It’s made it all so much more relatable for the employees, and it creates more of an emotional connection. The impact of that has been absolutely fantastic. And we’re now looking forward to creating more in the future.”
“All the feedback we’ve had from employees on inrehearsal’s content has always been really, really positive.”
But inrehearsal is a lot more than just a content library. Our collaborative partnership has been just as helpful to their growth as an L&D department.
The client’s rep explained, “I think the actual relationship itself has also been really important. The team at inrehearsal are like an extension of our team. I know I can contact them anytime and they’ll be there to support us. They go out of their way to help us find exactly what we need each time.”
Perhaps the most positive thing of all is the inspiration inrehearsal has provided to this global organisation’s L&D team. They now have a long-term vision for how they can continue to use inrehearsal’s content library and additional services to improve their offering and transform their business.
The training specialist added, “I’m really excited to see where we can take it.”
