The challenge: Meeting evolving learning needs for a dispersed workforce
Mitie’s L&D team wanted to go beyond traditional e-learning to strengthen their offering.
With a largely field-based workforce, they needed learning that was engaging, bite-sized, and easy to access.
“We recognised that people’s preferred learning methods had evolved beyond completing e-learning modules and reading. They now appreciate visual content that engages their interest more effectively,” said Victoria Biffin, Head of People at Mitie.
The L&D team wanted to move beyond traditional formats to engage their largely field-based workforce with more modern, accessible learning.
“So, we set out to find learning content that was bite-sized, concise, and focused, enhancing the learning experience our current content provided at the time,” Victoria added.
The solution: Expert-led video content from inrehearsal
In 2023, Mitie chose inrehearsal’s dynamic video-led content library to strengthen further their Learning & Development resources.
Embracing the “YouTube effect,” the library provided fresh perspectives from credible subject matter experts through webinars, podcasts, and short videos.
Helen Millard, Talent Development Specialist for Mitie, said:
“The credibility of inrehearsal’s SMEs was a major attraction, including best-selling authors, psychologists, lecturers, thought leaders, coaches, and industry experts.”
Mitie also integrated inrehearsal content into apprenticeships and their People Manager Hub, making resources easy to access and share across the organisation.
The outcome: Engagement and impact of workers in the field
Thousands of employees engaged with non-mandatory learning, watching more than 30,000 videos and webinars — clear evidence of the appetite for modern, accessible learning.
“inrehearsal’s content allows us to engage more colleagues out in the field,” said Victoria.
Mitie successfully addressed skill gaps and reached more field-based employees using inrehearsal’s content library, covering topics including diversity, equality, and wellbeing.
Helen explained, “We want our people to be able to keep abreast of the latest important topics to support personal growth and development. That’s why this partnership has been so good for us, because inrehearsal’s content brings different angles and different perspectives.”
Mitie’s Learning & Development team leveraged inrehearsal’s modern and bite-sized learning content to strengthen various aspects of their existing programmes.
Apprenticeship programmes have been enriched with inrehearsal learning content, while webinars are showcased on the People Manager Hub — allowing leaders to sign up and share sessions with their teams.
This partnership highlights the advantages of collaborating with an L&D ally who understands and supports organisational needs contributes to a rich learning experience for colleagues and fosters positive business outcomes.
“The relationship with inrehearsal has been fantastic. They’ve helped with curating resources by understanding our needs and providing tailored content, making it a true partnership.”
